A simple thank you goes a long way

Happy Holidays!

This is my last blog post of the year, and I want to continue the theme of DONOR RETENTION! In my video below, I focus on the ever-important process of thanking your donors.

To explain further, it is much easier to retain donors than to get new ones. And yet...nonprofits lose on average around half their donors every year. Plus, the rates of loss are much higher for new donors. Some studies show that 9 out of 10 new donors are lost to an organization. That's terrible!

Retaining these donors starts with thanking them. Are your thank you confirmation screens and emails engaging? Do they emotionally, personally, and authentically show that you appreciate someone's gift and that the gift will create meaningful change?

Make this the year where you up your thank you game. And start with video. Watch the video I made for you today. You could be making videos like this for hundreds of your donors every year, even thousands. What impact would that have on donor retention? How much would that be worth? Make 2018 the year to find out.
